Steve Hollingsworth lives with his wife in a quiet London suburb. He's a web designer/developer on and off and is not currently a member of any numismatic societies. The intrinsic (as opposed to the face value) of paper money has fascinated him since he was a child, and helped stimulate an interest in far away places and other cultures, which blossomed into a desire to travel to see some of those countries. He spent 7 years on the Indian sub-continent in his travels and now feels it's time to spread some of the joy of collecting banknotes. I am a grandmother calling from a village in England. Today my granddaughter who is 7 years old lost her beloved Doberman, he died and has been with her all her life. She wants to raise some money for Doberman Rescue kennels and the only things she has of value are two bank notes given to her by her great grandfather. The one is a 1935, 1 dollar note from Singapore (1st January 1935) on the back is a tiger and a big cat watermark, and the other a 3 ruble note from Russia (1938) the back had a large 3 in the middle, pink and green patterns and smaller 3's in the four corners. Could you please place a sales ad. for her, obviously the best offer will secure. We would be pleased if you could give us any advice on what sort of value they may have. I have scanned the notes and attached, hope they come through alright.
