TYVEK was used to produce some Haïti banknotes for a limited period during 1980-83. It
was discontinued after the ink adherence proved inadequate in the tropical
climate. The above examples of TYVEK Progressive PROOFS were used by the printer during the design and printing process. Certain underprint progressions above also contains the ultraviolet markings ("President Duvalier, etc.") which can be seen with a long wavelength "black light". These
Progressive PROOF examples are from a population of 4 or 5 sets to
have surfaced in the 2004-08 period. The ARCHIVE BOOKLET is the only know
example in this form. All Haïti TYVEK banknotes are scarce and highly
desirable by polymer collectors as they were the first TYVEK banknotes
issued by any government. The 250G and 500G are occasionally offered in
SPECIMEN form but no record of any issued versions of these notes are
known to have been offered recently. |
