Touissant Louverature is one of the most renowned Haitian leaders who is commemorated here on the 200th anniversary of the establishment of the Haïtian constitution. The 20 Gourdes banknote issued with the brochure has a unique curved serial number with the prefix TL for Touissant Louverature. These issues are commemorative in nature and are not legal tender. A legal tender version of the 20 Gourdes with regular serial numbers and silver foil was released to the public in December 2007 after stocks were held in the Central Bank vaults since 2001.
